At MW Exchange, selling USDC for British pounds is handled by a manager. It’s a manual exchange, so there is no rate on this page: the rate, payout method and place, and timing are quoted after your request. Before you write, it helps to know three things: which network to send USDC on, how to estimate the amount in pounds and where people most often go wrong.
USDC: what to check first
We accept USDC on the ERC20 network (Ethereum) only. If your coins are on a trading platform, choose Ethereum when withdrawing, not Base, Polygon or Solana. You need ETH in the wallet for the network fee, or the transfer won’t go through. And settle on the amount: the rate and payout options depend on it.
A worked example
The pound is worth more than the dollar, and USDC tracks the dollar, so each USDC gets you less than a pound. The reference is the USDC price in dollars divided by the pound/dollar rate. Hypothetically (round numbers, not today’s rate): the pound at $1.32, USDC at $1.000; 1 USDC ≈ £0.758, and 4,000 USDC ≈ £3,030. The manager’s rate will be lower by the exchange’s margin, which covers the manual work, delivering the currency and the risk of the rate moving mid-deal. - Describe your request: the USDC amount, and where and how you need the pounds.
- The manager quotes the rate, payout method and place, timing and the order of settlement.
- If you agree, send the USDC on ERC20 to the address from the chat and keep the transaction hash.
Where people go wrong
- The network. USDC sent from Base or Polygon to an ERC20 address: 0x addresses look the same, the networks are different.
- An address from history. Copied from past transfers, where scammers had planted a look-alike.
- Someone else’s “manager”. Replying to whoever wrote first instead of starting from the site.
- Rushing. Sending the coins before getting all the terms.
